Security: Microsoft offers a first version of its Windows Defender ATP, its enterprise-class security solution that will be offered with the Fall Creators Update of Windows 1

Microsoft announced new security features in Windows 10 with the release of Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection, which is now available as preview. Windows Defender ATP provides a control center that takes advantage of multiple security solutions and is designed for companies who want an overview of their security settings.

Among the new features available in this update is the arrival of the Windows Application Guard, a feature that allows an administrator to easily set up a white list system for Microsoft Edge. Rather than blocking access to non-white sites, Application Guard will open unauthorized sites in an isolated container to minimize the risk of infection of the machine.

Next to Application Guard, Windows ATP will also offer the Exploit Guard feature that applies a logic similar to that proposed by the EMET solution for earlier versions of Windows, but implemented this time entirely natively within the OS .

But the main new feature of WDATP is its control panel and its interconnection with the various Windows security tools. For administrators, it will be possible to see at a glance the state of the safety of the machines of the park, the presence or not of problems or infection on some machines, as well as the measures recommended by Microsoft to reinforce the security of devices protected by Windows systems.

A scoring system will sanction the level of security of the measures implemented, in order to be able to easily identify which aspects administrators can improve. The dashboard will also allow you to view the alerts received by the various antivirus and firewall deployed on the machines, as well as more specific data related to the behavior of the users: it is thus possible to know if a user deliberately clicked on an unknown link besides the warning displayed by Smartscreen.

This new update is currently only available in preview. To access it, the user must activate the preview updates in the preferences of his machine. The final version of this tool should be delivered with the update Fall Creators Update, whose official release date is scheduled for October 17
