The next Dell XPS 13 could trade black and silver against white and gold ... -
Expected for the next CES in Las Vegas, Dell's ultraportable flagship, the XPS 13, has already made a public appearance and it does not seem to have lost its superb.
Champion of our Top 10 and deserving the title of best ultraportable of the market, the Dell XPS 13 could well see its design change in 2018.
A preview of the Techradar site during a visit to Dell headquarters (Roun Rock, Texas), the XPS 13 cru 2018 seems to be very impregnated with its cousin, the Dell XPS 2-in-1 hybrid, released this year (auCES ). This is in any case what the photograph published by Techradar reveals. The screen (13.3 inches) is clearly the same, with very thin edges and the webcam centered on the lower edge. At first glance, the keyboard also seems to be the same and should therefore always be as comfortable.
Changing color, finishes and connections
The big XPS 13 change would be to leave the black and silver, for the white and gold.Hope that this is only a declination! Some users prefer the discrete machines, especially when they use them in places public.
According to Techradar, the palm rest cover would also have changed, trading the carbon fiber and its peach skin touch against a rigid fiberglass alloy, specially developed by the Texan brand. This could not create a white fiber and should therefore have changed his gun shoulder.Nevertheless, at first sight, the result is rather harmonious, but we will have to wait to have it in hand to pronounce definitively.
Among the less glamorous evolutions visible in the photos, we note the disappearance of the USB 3.0 full size connector and SD card reader. Dell passes - like on the hybrid - to the whole USB Type-C (three plugs) and put now on a microSD card reader, probably to gain finesse (and weight).
As for the rest of the configuration, Dell's spokespersons met by Techradar did not want to say more, just like to pronounce on any autonomy or even, of course, a price. It will therefore be necessary to wait until CES 2018 , to be held in Las Vegas from January 9 to 12, 2018.
